My Kampung Chicken Rice: My Kampung was created to mark the founder’s 50 years of hawkerpreneurship since his humble beginnings in Nee Soon Kampung. Having grown up in a mixed ethnicity community, despite being constantly surrounded by different local dishes, chicken rice also had a special place in the founder’s heart. It stems from his fondest memory of the lingering fragrance from rice simmering in chicken broth travelling through different households whenever the dish was being prepared. 50 years later today, My Kampung chicken rice is established to share the founder’s love for chicken rice, at the same time hoping to tickle patrons’ taste buds of nostalgia from their childhood memory. The recipe used is also finetuned from the founder’s family passed down recipe, with the homemade chilli complementing their signature roasted chicken and fragrant rice.
